Clara instantly fell in love with the Escorzo dress from the Vintage Couture collection by Laura Escribano. That is how we won her heart. When she came to the atelier she made it clear from the very beginning that her idea was not to marry in white. Clara did not want to be a traditional bride. She planned a country wedding full of bohemian atmosphere in Asturias (Spain).

Clara sought to be herself through her wedding dress, she wanted her back tattoo -two angel wings- to be an essential part of her style. In this revealing detail I found the main idea of the inspiration of her dress. I found an old collar with lapels made with an Irish bobbin lace and full of tassels at the ends.

Clara’s bespoke wedding dress was entirely made with old lace recovered and shaped on her body. The main concept of the design was to create a feeling of movement through the fabric. As if they were angel wings moving to the sound of her tattoo. Besides not using white colour, the other concept was to work on the wedding dress as if it was a suit of armour. Thus, we highlighted the part of the bust and all the body area. In order to make that suit of armour or corselet, we used another type of lace with ribbons and pieces of Venetian lace.

The train of the dress was made from an old mantilla of the nineteenth century and an Art Deco veil. For the back part of the wedding dress we simulate a bustle. Clara is fascinated by the ancient world, in particular by the nineteenth century. That is why I found it interesting to make that little aesthetic sign to finish shaping a design that conveys her passion.
